Saturday began with a person tour of the Air Force Academy by my uncle, a Col. in the Air Force. We began by walking through the Chapel. It was SO beautiful!!! Jason loved the arcitecture of the building.
Kim, Rylan, Uncle Mike, Dad, Jacob and JasonThe boys loved seeing 4 real planes from the chapel look-out spot.
Here's the inside of the chapel. The stained glass at the top go from dark at the back to light at the front.
There is a sculpture area full of WW2 models. We spent a lot of time looking at these!
After eating lunch at Ike's Grill on Base, we saw the beginning of the Waldo Canyon Fire. The Garden of the Gods closed before our eyes and the evacuating began. We headed back to Castle Rock for a lazy evening and have been following the devestation of the fire ever since.
The boys loved the Slip-n-Slide! Jacob leapt like a gazelle!
And Rylan crawled like a dog and licked the water spouts at the end!
After about an hour they were cold, so Aunt Martha snuggled Jacob...
and I snuggled Rylan.
After baths, the boys played tic-tac-toe with Uncle Mike. After a pizza dinner, we went to bed early! It was nice to get some rest on vacation!
