Last week the boys had their pre-school graduation ceremony. It was very confusing to them though because they will have one more year of Trooper School. The class is combined 3's and 4's, so next year they will officially be 4's. Anyway, it was a sweet ceremony and made Jason and me both tear up! We are really proud of Rylan and Jacob!
GPop and Granna got to come to the ceremony. Dad was so excited to see his former secretary of 15 years. Her granddaughter is in their class. GPop and Granna both got teary too, especially during the slide show.
This cracked me up...Notice how Jacob is sitting? It is criss-cross applesauce. I asked him why and he said, "That's how you sit at school!"
Rylan sat up straight and tall on the front row!
My camera was not cooperating, so pardon the pitiful centering... Each child got an award. The older group also got diplomas. Jacob's award was "Most Academic." He was not sure what "academic" meant, and when we told him it meant "smart and likes to learn," he finally beamed!
Rylan got "Best Storyteller." He said, "I don't tell stories, I just always tell true things!" I think this was the perfect award for him. He loves to elaborate and tell all the details of an event, real or make believe!
Next begins and bunch of teacher photos... The first three were my former first graders. It was especially bittersweet for me as a teacher to see my "first grade babies" all grown-up and teaching my own children. This young man, Mr. Tim, was one of my favorites. He was quiet and SO sweet. I saw him about 3 years ago at a football game and he was thrilled that I remembered his name. He was great with the boys!
Mr. Patrick saved my sanity the first year I taught. I always said he was Mary Poppins...practically perfect in every way! He was smart, polite, kind and so sweet. He came to our wedding! At Trooper School Open House in September, I could not believe how grown-up he was. When we said good-bye, I got teary again! He's going to study medicine. I am a proud teacher momma! He took really good care of the boys this year.
And this girl...Miss Allie. When I taught her she was still Allison, so it took me a while to call her Allie! Another favorite... She and Haley held such a special place in my heart. Allison came by every day after school until she left Elementary school to hug me and tell her about her day. She stayed after school 3 or 4 times and we did craft projects together. Her family even had Jason and I over for dinner as a thank you. And her mom... what a remarkable lady! Allie was one of the boys favorite teachers. They said she always read their note in their lunch boxes and gave them hugs. We will miss her!!!
Miss Aimee...rather Super Aimee! She always played Super Heroes with the boys at recess. She will be a talented teacher in 4 years!
Mr. Connor...their absolute favorite teacher! He also would play Super Heroes daily at recess. Rylan says that "Mr. Connor is always happy! He's the happiest person in the whole wide earth!" We will miss him bunches!
Miss Victoria... She always brought the boys and put them in the car after school. I remembered her from the school where I taught, but she was not in my class. She was Rylan's teacher for the Aquarium field trip and I was SO impressed with how well she interacted with the kids. I am so glad that she is going into Education. We need more like her! At the Graduation she told me that she liked putting the boys in the car because I talked to them and was happy to see them. She said that not all moms are... That made me sad. Then she told me that she always wanted to be in my class and wanted to be a teacher and mom like me. WOW - I was not expecting that. Humbling...
Miss Shelby always got the boys out of the car in the morning. Rylan had several rough leavings and she would pick him up, give hugs and start telling stories to distract him. She will be a great teacher too!
Mr. Can...we get him again next year! The boys think he is the silliest person alive!
And Mr. Hunter...the inventor of Super Rylan and Super Jacob!

The boys got to pick our lunch spot... Double Dave's pizza! They wanted the cinnamon pizza and they sure did get it! We are so proud of them for this year! When I think of how far they have come academically, motor skills, and socially, it brings tears to my eyes! They did GREAT!!!
Jacob declared, "I will NOT pick up any ants ever!!!" But he did find 3 snail shells.
This cute boy decided since the bugs were few, he would find other nature things. He added a feather, some rocks and a few leaves to his jar.
We'll keep searching! :)
Oh...and we've been wearing Mavs gear non-stop this week! More to come on that soon! :)
Thanks to CFA Family Night, we have two new swords (as if we needed any more than the 10 we already have!!!). The boys LOVE the balloon swords! Arrrrrrrr mateys!
This past Sunday was the last Bible Hour for the year. The kids came on the stage and sang 4 songs and were presented with certificates for their memory work achievements. The boys learned 9 out of 12 songs in addition to all 12 of their class memory work. We are really proud of them and continually pray that all of the verses will penetrate their hearts and that God will mold them into His image!!!
This is how Rylan sits almost every day at breakfast...criss cross applesauce! It cracks us up, but that is our boy doing things HIS way!!!

It has been a MAJOR HIT around this house! In fact, I think I'm going to make some other version with different toys. The boys are getting better at rolling dice, counting and number recognition. Now to add on number writing...
Yes, that's right...a Dallas Mavs Mr. Potato Head!!! One of our friends found it (along with a Spurs Potato Head) at our Tuesday Morning store. It was such a wonderful surprise that has been built? over and over again!

And yes, the boys have watched a few games...the two loses... so tonight they will be tucked in by 8:00 so that Jason and I can drink our ritual Coke in a glass bottle and cheer them on to a victory! GO MAVS!!!

I'm pretty sure that we went through 10 towels, but it was SO worth it! They had MORE fun trying different toys and then other objects to see if they would float or sink. I see this becoming a semi-regular experiment.

Recently Jacob has been snuggling my old teddy bear, Timmy. Timmy has been through many night in my arms growing up and it makes my heart happy to see him getting snuggles again!
