Rylan and Jacob's Version

My sweet little Jacob... he's got some spunk! Ever since we took away the pacis, he has really been pushing his limits with all sleep times. The first week was smooth, then week two came and it has been a downhill slope. Anyway, last night after they had been in bed for about 45 minutes, I was about to go in there and tell them to be quiet when this is what I hear...

J - "Now it's time for the Lord's Supper. We will eat it because Jesus died. He was on the cross and everyone was sad. Weeeellll, not everyone. Some mean people were not sad. But God was sad."

R - "The first is the cracker. It is Jesus body."

J - "No Rylan, I am leading it. I am on stage."

R - "I want the cracker."

J - "The cracker is Jesus body. You eat it if you are baptized. You get baptized when you are older."

R - "I want to be older because I want the cracker."

J - "Now we will pray. Dear God thank you for crakers."

R - "Now I will lead. It is now juice. It is in little cups. I cannot drink it yet."

J - "No it is still my turn!!! The juice is about his blood. Now drink it."

R - "No you forgot to pray. I will do it. Dear GOd, Thank you for juice... and Jesus on the cross."

J - "I will say Amen! Amen!

R - "Now it is money for Jesus."

J - "We do not have a tray. I will give money."

Enter mommy - "Boys, I'm so glad you were listening this morning at church, but it is bedtime. Good night."

I sure do love those boys...even 45 minutes after bedtime!

Jake and Laci's Big Day!

This weekend, Rylan and Jacob had the honor of being ring bearers in a wedding! The groom, Jake, is one of Jason's dearest high school friends. He married a lovely girl, Laci, in a beautiful ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

Jacob and Rylan were very excited about having a "wedding job." At the rehearsal, Jacob was THRILLED to be on the stage! He preached a sermon - complete with waving hands - while on stage. It went something like this... "And King Saul - his heart got bad. The Israelites - they stopped loving God. Then God was sad at them. And Guh-liiiii-juh (Elijah) he made fire from heaven and that made everyone love God."

We were all a little nervous about three 2 year olds actually walking down the aisle. After a brief hesitation and asking Mommy to go with them, all 3 made it perfectly down the aisle...with the real rings on the pillow! And they were the three most adorable wedding children ever!!!

The reception was so neat. It was at an old mansion and the food was all their favorites. Laci's mom's fiesta dip, Aunt Danni's chicken salad on crossiants, BBQ from Aggieland, sausage sandwiches from Jake's favorite smokehouse, etc. Very personal and delicious! Everything was so perfect and we were so honored to be a part of their wedding day.

Enjoy the pictures below...I did not do captions. The pictures say a thousand words! OK - I have to give one caption...what do you think of our little Elton John with the "microwave" (microphone) and blue shades?!?!?!?!?

Slightly Famous

Several months ago, the HU Women's Association asked for recipes for their new cookbook. I submitted our three family favorites. Then a few weeks ago we got the Alumni Magazine and what should we find? My chicken recipe was the featured main dish! I feel a little famous!!! :)

Honey Pecan Chicken

Preheat oven to 425. Spray baking sheet with Pam. Finely chop pecans. Mix pecans and corn flakes in a shallow dish. Mix honey and soy sauce in another shallow dish. Dip both sides of the chicken in the honey mixture then coat with the pecan mixture. Arrange on baking sheet in a single layer. Spray tops of chicken with Pam. Bake 7 minutes. Flip chicken. Bake another 7 minutes. Enjoy!

Have you ever had a time you were slightly famous?
