Our fall was full of so much fun and this post cannot possibly encompass all the ups and downs, but here goes! September started off bad... Mom was diagnosed with uterine cancer. She had a full hystorectomy in early November and it was a great success! It was stage one cancer and the doctor feels great about her prognosis. She is in the middle of 5 radiation treatments right now. We are very grateful and relieved for this bad news turning out so well!!!
Jason turned 37 in October! We had a big family dinner at Perry's and then came home for gifts and cake. It was a fun night! The boys especially loved picking out the balloons! I made one of Granny's famous yellow cakes with chocolate icing. It was quite tasty!

The Flamingos hit Granbury! I should write a whole post about this wonderful weekend, but well sum it up with this: LOTS of laughter, jammies til noon, LOTS of talking, shopping, Babe's chicken tenders (twice), pizza bigger than our heads, $6 aviator shades from Family Dollar, a new bunny for Annelise, did I mention laughter?!?!?!? These friends are one of my greatest gifts from God.
Trunk or Treat at church... Rylan was Obi Wan as a padawan and Jacob was Darth Vader. The force was with us all!
For school, the boys wanted to be history heroes! Jacob was offended that no one knew he was US Grant. Rylan was Davy Crockett. I love my history buffs!
The first of November sent us to Beaumont for a day of reptile fun! Rylan was in heaven! We got to hold gators, snakes, a bearded dragon, a stink and more. We got to see oodles of adult gators swimming in the ponds. It was a really cool place!
Most of our Friday night were at District Stadium cheering on the Wildcats towards their first District Championship and win over Springs! It was a great season to be a Wildcat!!!
Thanksgiving was spent at home with our family. Mom and I cooked up the traditional Turkey Day spread... turkey, ham, dressing, fruit salad, gravy, rolls, green beans, cranberry sauce, and sweet potatoes. The men my life...

Thanksgiving happened to fall on my 37th birthday this year! After our large lunch, we had birthday cake for dinner! Jason and the boys surprised me with a 4 foot tall metal flamingo... Lola!
December began our month of strep throat! There were very few days that we all were well, so our Christmas-y activities were much more limited this year. Peter the elf came back on December 1! He brought white do-nuts and cinnamon rolls along with tons of crafts and treats. It was a super, fun way to start December!
One night our friends Chris, Angie and Landon asked us over to decorate Christmas cookies. We had a messy blast!!!

The boys wanted to have another Grinch night. With all the sicknesses, our Grinch night kept getting pushed back. The Santa Grinch soda bottles were the boys favorite part! We also had rare roast beast (ham), Who Hash (potato cakes), green bean bundles, Who Pudding (chocolate mousse) and a Grinch cake. After stuffing ourselves on Grinch-y food, we watched the movie. A perfect night!
Going to se Santa was another drama! Again, due to all the sicknesses we were MUCH later than usual going to see Santa. The last day of school Rylan had an ear ache, so I sent him to school while Jason and I headed to Toys R Us for the last few things. The pedi does not take calls until 8:30, so at 8:40 I reached for my phone and it was the school nurse calling about Rylan's ear. I checked them both out at 10:30 to go to the doctor. We waited until 12:05 to see the doctor... yes, over an hour. Needless to say, we were all a little grouchy. Mom was with us, and we went to LaMads for lunch... which perked us all up! Then we got to the mall about 1:15. Then we began the eternal wait of 2013... we waited 2 full hours to sit on Santa's lap! He was about to go on break (and a different Santa would take his place) and the lady in front of us, begged him to stay for one more family because he is the only real Santa and all of our photos are with him. So he happily stayed for 3 more minutes for Rylan and Jacob to tell him their wishes. Mom took them for a cookie and coke while I waited one more hour to pay. By this time, Rylan's advil had worn off and he was in tears feeling so terrible due to his double ear infection. It was the longest day of my life! hahaha
And finally we made it to Christmas Eve! Here's the family...
After Christmas we went up to DFW to celebrate with Jason's family. We stopped by to visit with Evelyn on New Year's Eve. They counted down to noon. Not only did we have a GREAT visit, but lots of good laughs too!
Evelyn told me that her New Year's Resolutions are to improve her prayer life and send notes of commedation to the Lord's servants each month. What a Godly perspective for a 104 year old woman of faith!
We had a fun visit with Jason's family! Here are his parents and the cousins. We had fun opening gifts, eating at Twisted Root and watching football!
Now to my goals... writing on this blog is near the top of my list!!! I hope to write another post soon about New Year's Eve and be more faithful to preserving our family's life!! Thanks for hanging on with me! :)
