Granny's hands have been most of these things to me through the years. Since we only lived about 45 minutes away all my life, we saw them most weekends. I would spend the weekend with them 3/4 of the year and even had an attendance chart at their church's Bible class! The hands of Granny have taught me so many things... to make a pie crust, to crochet (long forgotten, though...), how to hold the book just right as you lay in bed reading, eating popcorn made by Popa on the stovetop, hugging hurting friends, preparing food without being called to by the Food Chairman, covering your mouth as you laugh really loud, buckling your seat belt.. and so many more!
Granny's hands have been hurting the last two weeks. On February 20, she had a heart attack and is still in the hospital. Her aortic valve is severely damaged. It is sad to see her hands still... it may be the first time I've ever seen them still. But they are still good for holding... and loving.
At this point, the doctors are trying to get her strong enough to go to a rehab facility. Please pray for our family...and all the others dealing with aging loved ones.
