That's right - we left home on Wednesday afternoon and drove to Dallas. We went straight to Academy at 8:15 and left there at 10:15 with a few big bags stuffed with shirts, pennants, glasses, wallets and more! It took a while to get into our hotel, but by 11:30pm, we were finally settled into bed. I woke up at 5, got ready, got Jason up at 5:20, got the boys up at 5:40, ate breakfast at 6 and hit the road walking at 6:15. We arrived at Dealey Plaza at 6:30... in the morning... Only for the MAVS!!
I know I've said it a million times, but it is fun to share the love of a team with your sweetie!!!

We took water, snacks, a blanket and two cameras! By 7:15 all the front row was filled. By about 9 it was getting really deep, but the reflecting pool kept us safe from too many people pushing and shoving to get closer. I was like a momma bird bowing up to protect our space. After 5 hours driving and being there for 4 hours before the parade, NO ONE was messing up our view! hahaha
On Tuesday, the boys made this poster. THey each drew the players and wrote their names or numbers. I wrote in glue and they added the glitter. Then Jacob punched orange circles and drew the basketball lines. He glued them all over the poster.
Waiting...waiting...waiting... This was a trip of waiting! From driving 5 hours, to long lines at Academy, to waiting for the players to waiting for lunch, this was a time to practice our patience. And I must say, they did great!
Finally about 10:20, the parade got to us. Here are the highlights... we were about 10 feet away from the floats. It was AWESOME!!! We may have screamed like crazy folk...
We love you Cuban!!! We were both surprised how big the trophy is! When 7 foot talk men hold it, it looks like an oversized flower vase, but in real life it is huge! Cuban was pumping his arms up and down and we were sure the trophy was going to fly! His beaming face was priceless!!!

JJ Barea - Jacob's favorite player. JJ smiled HUGE the whole time. Jacob screamed his name and this is when he turned. It was one of the highlights for Jacob. It is also Shawn Marion - who we call Mar-eeeee-on!
Mihimni...he is young, but did good. He kept opening and closing the towel with a HUGE smile on his face too. He looked like a kid in the candy store!
Tyson Chandler and Karon Butler... Tyson kept pumping his arm like Arsenio and Karon was smoking. It was sweet to see Tyson with his kids. We sure do hope he comes back next year!
Brain "The Custodian" Cardinal and Peja... We love Cardinal because he reminds us of Laimbeer from the Pistons of the early 90's...and when he fouled DWade... well, every Mavs fan loved him a little more that night! Rylan LOVES to say Peja! When we play basketball in the backyard, he goes way out for a Peja 3 pointer.
And the highlight... JET, Kidd and DIIIIIIIRRRRRRKKKKK! The boys' mouths were open in awe of the last float. Dirk is HUGE!!! Jason Kidd looked like he may cry in joy and awe of all the people yelling for them. It was sweet. We wished we could have seen JET better, but this was OK.
After this, my throat hurt!!! We love the Mavs so much!!

And about 15 minutes after the parade! They were OUT! I mean, they had been up for 6 hours!
The West End was overflowing with hungry, hot people. We went to The Butcher Shop and only had to wait 1 1/2 hours...Spaghetti Warehouse told us 2 1/2. The food (and AC) was great!!
After lunch, we drove over to the AAC to see if there was any action. The party was over, but we got to take lots of cool photos and get the commerative posters, which are now laminated and on the walls of our house!

SOOOOOO glad y'all got to do this! What an experience and a forever memory.
Love, love love all your pics--and that y'all staked out your spots at 6:30 am--crazy, but a good kind of crazy. My fave pics are the first because the school book depository is in the background (jealous) and the on of J & R asleep 5 minutes after the parade. :)
