Vacay - Day 2 - Aquarium

So when you are in a beach town and it rains, what do you do? Well, we went to the Texas State Aquarium. It was GREAT!!! We loved all aspects of our day at the Aquarium (except the over-priced nasty lunch). The power was out when we arrived and the back-up lights were on, so we got in half-price! So many fish seemed to glow in the dark... super cool according to Jacob! One of Rylan's faves...the lionfish!
We got to see the Dolphin show. It was beautiful to see God's creatures so close.
The fam!

The boys loved touching the stingrays. They felt smooth yet creepy!
One of our family favorites were the sea turtles. We got to watch the keeper feed them brussel sprouts! The turtles loved them and the boys gagged!

The turtles were so incredible...so pretty and unique.
We also got to see a bird show. Several hawks flew about 2 feet over out heads. We could feel the breeze when they went over!

Comparing alligators and crocodiles...
The boys favorite...watching the dolphins. They built an A/Ced viewing room of the dolphin tank. We stayed in here for a long time. The dolphin had a ball and the boys played basketball with the dolphin through the glass (or at least they thought they were!!!)

Jacob loved the poison dart frogs...
Jacob and Rylan were horrified that poachers stuff these birds into plumbing tubes to smuggle them out of the rain forest. The guide was very informative and a good teacher!
Last fave...the sea horse tank! The tank is a tall cylinder with a hole that you can stand in to get an up-close 360 degree of the sea horses. We stayed here a long time too! They boys could not stop cracking up because it distorted the size of everything.

Stay tuned for more!

Sorry it rained on your vacay--but the aquarium was a perfect filler.

I think the sea turtles would be my fave too. Love them!
