Snow Day 2014

On a Friday was the first Ice Day in MANY years and then the next Tuesday, lo and behold, we had a SNOW DAY!  The schools declared on Monday that they would be closed on Tuesday so that everyone could stay safe.  I was happy that the schools decided early and did not leave all the parents hanging!

The boys slept a little late... like 8:00, and then some fun began!  The weather did not turn out to be a big deal here, hardly any ice and NO snow, but we made the best of it!  At one point there was a little sleet, so the boys ran outside to get in it!  The is Rylan checking to see if the net was frozen... sadly, it was not!
This was the most accumulation we had!  Pitiful!!
Jason and I snuggling up in the cold... it was about 36 degrees, so no snow at all.  Notice that we don't even have on jackets! hahaha
And the boys enjoying and hoping for more precip!  The night before they had a grand plan to build two life-size snowmen having a light saber duel,  Too bad they couldn't do it because those would have been cool snowmen!!!
We did a lot of reading on this cold day!  Jacob has discovered Nate the Great.  He can hardly put them down!!
Rylan picked toffee cookies, so we got to baking!  These have the BEST dough.  Unfortunately they dry out after about 2 days, so you have to eat them fast!  It is a Paula Deen recipe and we LOVE them!
 Here's the recipe!
The rest of the day we played with costumes and played some board games.  We were sad that there was no snow, but glad we were all safe and sound!
