It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

To kick off the holiday season, the Flamingo's attended a Holiday Brunch. Jackie has been going for years and has been twisting our arm to join her for a while. This was the first year that we were able to go and it is now going to be an annual event!We arrived at 9:30 to view the gorgeous 60+ tables. Each table was "hosted" by a woman and she decorated it with her dishes and decor. Every table was unique and awesome! Here are a few of my faves... I loved all the Thanksgiving tables. There's something about all the orange and brown that I am drawn to.
This one was really cool - John 2...miracle at Cana. Everything was purple and green and the guests each got to keep the glass jar of grapes. SO COOL!


Here's our table. It was all gold and had angels for the centerpiece. Since we were guests, the church gave us a devo book. Wasn't that nice? So far, I like it a lot! And, this was the first time I've ever used gold flatware.
The same people who catered our wedding catered this lunch! It was just as delicious as I remember our wedding! Different food, but still great! The chicken was in a cranberry glaze that was plate-lickin' good!

The program was perfect. They had 6 members of the congregation perform Carols Chamber Choir style with some singing and dancing. It was toe-tapping good! Then LeighAnn McCoy gave a talk. Her 45 minutes presentation seemed to only last 5 minutes. She was so inspiring and was speaking wonderful encouragment about our focus during the holidays. Some of the points I want to remember:

1. Being a mom is the most important job on the face of the planet

2. As a mom/wife, we control the atmosphere of our home. If we want holiday crazies, then that is what we will create. If we want the focus on thankfulness and Jesus, then it is our job to create it.

3. Don't forget Thanksgiving! And mostly the attitude of gratitude and thankfulness.

4. Don't miss Christmas - the true meaning of Jesus and his life. Teach it to your kids. Have God's words of life on your lips to tell others about Jesus.

5. Remember it is better to give than receive.

After picking up 5 of our darlings from the childcare area, we brought them back to the gym to see all the tables. Lauren and Kaci loved all the girly-ness!

Then we got to go talk to LeighAnn and buy her newest book, Spiritual Warfare for Women. We started this for our new book this week! Meeting LeighAnn was wonderful. She was so down-to-earth and chatted with us for a good while.
The timing was this luncheon was perfect! It was perfect to get my mind in the right place and perfect to provide the energy to make my home more focused on Christ and not the crazies during this season!
