We woke up bright and early and hit the road to drive 2 hours to eat breakfast here...at the Loveless. And it was worth every minute of the wait!!! We had to wait about 10 minutes for our table, so the boys entertained themselves...
Then the gluttony began... homemade biscuits that melt in your mouth served with homemade jelly/preserves.
We decided to get the Family Breakfast. It included all you could eat of the following: eggs
grits,
pork on a plate, (the BEST ham ever consumed!!!)
hashbrown casserole,
and fruit!
Needless to say, all 8 of us were all grins and quite full!
We even got to watch the biscuit lady!
After our brunch, we went to the free museum. It was really, really good! The Civil War section was huge and we saw hundreds of artifacts - guns, cannons, battle maps, Andrew Johnson artifacts including his top hat and piano. The Andy Jackson section was also impressive - dishes, coat, letters, sword and more! We also loved the Davy and Sam Houston stuff - the TN-TX connection is strong!
After touring the museum (and a small gift shop meltdown), we headed south to Franklin to take a free walking tour. It was SO neat! Here is the building that was a Union and Confederate hospital during the horrible Battle of Franklin.
This is the courthouse.
Beth got a booklet with things to find. The boys LOVED searching for weather vanes, bricks on the ground, elevation marker (6000 feet above sea level) and more!

The trees were beginning to change colors. LOVED!!!
Then we went to Stoney River Steakhouse for Jason's BD dinner. (More to come on his BD celebrations...) Rylan and Isaac were so excited to eat more fried shrimp!
Then we drove home. All the kids slept as we munched on Krispy Kreme pumpkin do-nuts and drank hot cocoa! It was another wonderful day!!!
