Happy New Year 2012!

I don't really know the origin of the "good luck" superstition, or believe it either, but we always eat black-eyed peas on New Year's Day. This year, New Year's was on a Sunday. Mom stayed home from church to care for Granny and Popa, so she also prepared lunch for us! Above is Rylan's plate - HoneyBaked Ham, sweet potatoes, black-eyes, cornbread and apples. Not fancy, but very tasty!
When we all eat at Granny and Popa's and it is not a special occasion, we split into two groups. Mom, Dad and the boys sit in the den at the coffee table and Jason and I sit at the kitchen table with Granny and Popa. After our lucky lunch, we all took naps - the best way to start any year!
