Sad

There is something that makes me very sad... the fact that (in general) people ignore the living humans in front of them to be on the computer or on their smart phones. I cannot imagine an email, text or FB post that is more important that talking to someone's face. And how does that make the person feel, when they are with someone who is constantly "connecting" to other people. What message are you sending? The message that says your phone/computer is more important that the person with you. That's sad.

It makes me sad to see 2 people at dinner table with phones in hand and not uttering a word to each other. It makes me sad for children to be playing at the feet of someone who ignores them in exchange for their phone. It makes me sad that people seem to be losing the art of conversation in exchange for abbreveated messages and smart aleck remarks. And it makes me sad that the kids are suffering for the adult's "need" to know what is happening with everyone else.

May God give us the strength to resist the Devil's temptation to ignore living people in front of us. May God give us the strength to resist the Devil's temptation to believe that connecting with the outside world is more important than connecting with the people in our own homes. God bless our families and help us to use media to YOUR glory, not our won.
