Love is...

Of course, the boys hugging warms my heart, but I wanted to tell you about our February project that is behind them. Over November, we decorated our dining room window with leaves of thankfulness. The boys have been itching to decorate the window again, so for February we are focusing on love...especially the love of God.

Across the top is our family memory verse for the month... 1 John 3:16 "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us."

Along the left are hearts that answer the question "How does God show that He loves us?" So far we've got (in the boys words)... God saved the Israelites at the Red Sea and waves splashed on the Egyptians * God gave us a Daddy and Mommy that love us and love God * giving people stuff like when he gave Moses the Ten Commandments * God sent Jesus from heaven to earth * gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit * God loved Paul by making him blind and talking to Jesus * he makes good things happen * gives us a family that we love and loves us back * God saved Shadrech, Meshach and Abednego from the fiery pit. They came out! * God saved Daniel in the lion's den by sending an angel and Daniel came out * God told Daniel what the words on the wall said * God gave us rules to follow. He gave Moses the Ten Commandments * God gave Noah the rainbow and promised there would never be a flood again.

Along the right side of the window are hearts that answer the questions "How do we show that we love God?" Here are our answers... by sharing toys and playing together * by sharing toys with Jacob * be gentle, especially with babies and old people * not fighting * play nicely with friends * not running in the church building * obey God and follow His rules * by sending cards to sick people * helping our friends get up when they fall down * love God * put money in the plate at church * by taking care of borrowed toys * learn memory verse * take care of my body * pray for others

This has been an really good exercise for all 4 of us! It is making us think a little deeper and work a little harder to show our love for God in the things that we do. Have a great day showing others the love of God! :)
