Lion King... The Musical

AI love The Lion King!  It is one of my all-time fave Disney movies.  It IS Rylan's fave Disney movie.  In high school, my show choir sang a medley of the songs, which endeared them even more to me!  When I was pregnant, Jason, Mom, Dad and I went to see the live musical when it came to town.  It has not been here again in 6 years!  So when the tickets went on sale, I bought 6 the first day!
As the big day approached, we were all eager with excitement!  Then Jason got called to CO to handle the wildfire claims.  He was not sure when he would be able to get back into town... that burst our bubble a little bit.  Not sharing such a fun night with Daddy was stinky... whence Rylan's POUT below.  (The pout is also coupled with NOT taking a nap even though I even laid down with them... Mr. Cranky was at the Hobby Center at that moment!)
Because we are paranoid and unsure of Houston traffic, we arrived almost 2 hours early.  So what do you do with two 5 year old for almost two hours when it is really dinner time and all you ate was a roll in the car???  You run them like crazy in an open foyer!  Then you show them the big buildings of downtown and tell them "way back when" stories about each building.
Mr. Cranky Pants left and Rylan re-appeared just in time for the show to begin!  Yee-haw!!!
Here is the family (minus Jason... still in CO on this evening).

Since Jason could not go, we asked Miss Sarah to join us.  She was SOOOOOOO excited!!! Turns out she had been itching to go, but did not know who to go with.  When I called she actually yelled "YES!"  It was so cute!!!  She's practically blood kin, so it was natural for her to join in on the African savannah night of fun!
 Almost showtime!!!
Sarah, Granna and Jacob.  Notice Jacob put his arm around Granna... like a husband.  He held my hand (intertwined like a husband) for most of the show.
Me, Rylan and GPop. I swallowed my pride to post this photo - the least flattering pose in history!
Granna bought a program, so she and Ryaln looked at it before the show.  It was awesome!
Here are some favorites from the show...
Fave Character = Little Simba (Rylan and Jacob) and Rafiki (Kim)
Fave Song = Rylan - Rafiki Mourns and  Chow Down, Jacob - Rafiki Mourns, Chow Down and He Lives in You, Kim - Opening, Chow Down, Grassland Chant and He Lives in You
Fave Animal in Opening = Rylan - cheetah, Jacob - elephant and lion, Kim - rhino, giraffe and birds
Funniest Character = Rylan - Rafiki and Zazu, Jacob - Rafiki or Little Nala or Zazu, Kim - Zazu
Favorite Moment = Rylan - loved everyting!, Jacob - how they remembered all the tricky artifacts from the movie, Kim - watching Rylan on the edge of his seat for 2 full hours and holding hands with Jacob

And yes, the boys did laugh during Rafiki Mourns... the saddest moment of the whole musical.  We had been listening to the soundtrack for a month leading up to the musical and they always think the baboon language is hilarious.  Needless to say, they laughed that night too.

We missed Jason terribly... especially when we got a little turned around leaving downtown, but we loved having Sarah join us!  It was a WONDERFUL event!!!
