Family Game Night

A few weeks ago, we decided to start having "Family Game Nights." There is no schedule and the boys will declare it FGN many times a week! This is our current favorite game. It is very age appropriate for 3 year olds. An adult has to read the question card, but the child can count the objects. To make sure to re-inforce number recognition (1,2,3 only), the kids get to do the next step...

Which is putting coal into their engines row!!! Super fun!!!
Rylan loves to find the correct number of coal to feed the engines!

The game board is slightly slanted, so the first engine to the top of the peak slips over the edge. When that happens, the boys make sure all the other engines go over the peak too - which is followed by many happy giggles and cries of "I winned!!!"
We also play Chutes and Ladders and CandyLand. Any other suggestions for three year olds that your family loves to play???

Zingo is a really fun twist on traditional bingo. Hullabaloo is a fun active game and would be great for the boys to play by themselves on rainy, cold, or too hot days. Hi Ho Cheery is a classic. And you can always play a thousand versions of memory/concentration. We also have a Colorform silly faces game where you spin for different facial features to create a funny face. Not sure if it's still around- I got it at TJ Maxx. We have a few fun girly games, too. Happy gaming!

How fun. We play games every night as part of Layton's special time after Trevor goes to bed. LJ loves memory (I saw a Thomas version at Barnes and Nobel last night). He also likes Go Fish and I am thinking of teaching him UNO. Have fun.
