Jacob and Rylan are both obsessed with horses! They LOVE the Baby Einstein farm DVD and get very excited about all the farm animals. They run around saying "neigh, neigh" and squeal every time a horse is in a book.
So today we go to Wal-Mart to get diapers and there is one of those horses that you ride by the front door. The boys had their usual squeals and saying "neigh, neigh" for the next 10 minutes. So on the way out, I decided to be a fun mom and let them ride the horse. I set Jacob on the horse and he seemed OK. Then I put in the 2 quarters and it started moving and playing a song. After about 15 seconds, Jacob got the death grip on my neck! He started screaming, you know that scared, panicked scream?!?! So I picked him up and Mom tried to set Rylan on the horse. there was NO WAY he was getting on that horse after Jacob freaked out! So we left, as the horse was still galloping and singing as we walked out the door.
Have no fear, though, they are not scared for life against horses. By the time we got home, they were looking at their books and saying "neigh, neigh" with glee again!
How did your kids react to the toys you can ride at stores?

Maybe this is bad, but I don't think my kids have ever ridden a ride like that! I can tell you that Joshua was scared of Santa and pretty much ANY dressed-up character until he was five.
We haven't done the ones at the stores, at least when A. is with me (I'm just mean that way--ha!).
At Mr. Gatti's A. ONLY liked the ice cream truck ride, the others scared her. Terror.
:) We're ok with the things you ride...unless they ride AWAY from Mom and Dad. We have the dressed-up character fears in our house!!
My two year old sometimes screams at the CART in Wal-mart. I'm not getting anywhere near the rides! :-)
How funny! If we were behind yall you can bet one of my boys would have hopped on that horse!- Yee'Haw!
H has never had any problems with the little quarter rides, but he wouldn't ride on a carousel horse until after he turned 3!!! It seemed a little ridiculous to be paying a dollar or two for us to sit on a chair and ride in circles...
My kids don't seem to have too much trouble with the rides, but Ashlyn did have a deathly fear of dressed-up characters (ditto Deanna!) Hopefully, that fear has passed, but who knows..
My two being the complete opposties they are had completly differant experiances. My eldest whom loves Bob the builder would always go mental to play by the bob ride at our grocery store, one day like you decided to be fun mum and put him in the truck for a ride, Well couldn't even get the Euro in before he jumped out and clung to me for life. He was 1.5 then is almost 3 now and loves all rides. My youngest however saw his big brother on a ride at like 10 months and screamed to be sat beside him so put him on and he LOVED it!!!
Bless them they will get better, just place them on the ride when it's off each time your there and one day in time put that 50P in again
